How this latest acquisition affects Obsidian directly is yet to be revealed, but right now Microsoft says it will be deciding what Bethesda properties will be exclusives or not on a "case by case" basis. The studio has also revealed Avowed-a new fantasy RPG set in the world of Pillars of Eternity, with the reveal trailer giving off distinct Elder Scroll vibes. Obsidian is still working on The Outer Worlds, with the game's latest expansion launching recently. And not just for Obsidian-DOOM creator John Carmack has also expressed interest in reuniting with some Bethesda franchises now that Microsoft is at the helm. After Microsoft purchased the studio, it seemed conclusive at the time that Obsidian would never work on Fallout again. Obsidian have worked on multiple entries in established RPG series that have been critically acclaimed, including the sequel to BioWare's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
